TEDx BAZE University

Acclaimed author and domestic abuse advocate Pamela R Haynes FRSA visited Abuja, Nigeria, recently to deliver a powerful TEDx talk at TEDxBazeUniversity. The event, hosted at Baze University, welcomed an audience of approximately 600 people, including university students, lecturers, and pupils from local secondary schools. She took to the TEDx stage to deliver her talk titled Write the Book, Chase the Dream, Change the World. In it, she shared her remarkable journey—from navigating personal and systemic challenges to becoming a published author and a passionate voice for survivors of domestic abuse. Her message highlighted the power of storytelling and how sharing personal narratives can inspire healing, ignite ambition, and drive meaningful change. Her words struck a powerful chord with the audience, who responded with warmth, emotion, and appreciation. Many attendees expressed how her story resonated deeply, offering encouragement and solidarity through the lens of creativity and courage. In recognition of her impactful storytelling and compelling TEDx presentation, she was presented with a special award during the event. The award celebrated her dedication to amplifying underrepresented voices and using her platform to educate and empower others. “It was such an honour to speak in Abuja and connect with so many bright, thoughtful minds,” she said after the event. “To be recognised in this way, especially in a country so full of culture, promise, and strength, was incredibly humbling.” As a gesture of appreciation and a commitment to education, she donated copies of her books to the Baze University library. The donation was warmly received and will provide students and staff with valuable insights into themes of resilience, justice, and social impact. Her appearance at TEDxBazeUniversity not only celebrated her own journey but reinforced the power of storytelling to transform lives and inspire global change.
